This weekend edition post is about resolutions.
What are your 2013 resolutions? I always say that I am going to cut sugar from my diet, and start a journal, but those things usually only last about two months... or until chocolate arrives on Valentine's Day.
This year I want to do something different. I would like to be a better sister. Of course, I love my sister, Hannah, with all my heart, but I want to be her (best) friend more than anything. Last night my family attended the visitation of my Dad's cousin Ramona, who passed away on December 29th. Hannah and I were able to speak with Mona's sister at the funeral home, and she told us how blessed she felt to have talked with her sister the day before she entered into a comma. In their last conversation, Mona's sister told her that she loved her.
Sisters and family are important, and in 2013, I hope to improve my relationship with Hannah and tell her "I love you" often.

Weekend Edition
Hello! What are your plans for this weekend? I'm looking forward to seeing my family in Williamsburg, especially my sister, Hannah. :) We've got plans to attend an Oyster Roast to benefit my old Montessori school. (love Montessori!) There is also Grand Illumination in Colonial Williamsburg this weekend. It's so beautiful to walk around, drink cider, and admire all the eighteenth-century holiday decorations. Tonight Matt and I are planning on checking out Canal Park with some friends. It just opened and there is ice skating!

Happy Turkey Day
Happy (day before) Thanksgiving Everyone! Life has been busy, and kept me from updating these past few days.
Thanksgiving has come very fast this year, and this is only my second Thanksgiving since I've been working full time. I always looked forward to breaks in college- no school!! But holiday breaks were especially nice since I knew that I was returning home to family. Now working, it's harder to keep the true meaning of this holiday in mind, so I thought I share a few things that I am thankful for on my blog!
First, I'm so thankful and blessed for my wonderful husband, Matt. He's a true partner in life and everything is just better when he's around. :) I'm thankful for my new family that marriage gave me. I'm glad we can spend the holidays mostly together this year and learn even more about each other.
I'm so grateful for my family. Unfortunately, I won't be seeing them this year on Thanksgiving, but we will be thinking about each other and probably sending one another funny texts all day! I'm thankful for my friends who have become part of my family, and for new friends that Matt and I have met together since living in DC.
I'm thankful for the country that I live in. A place where there is so much diversity in people and nature; I feel blessed to have experienced this first hand on our honeymoon to Glacier National Park in August.
Along with the big critters, I'm thankful for the small ones...like our dog Rex. He's the best snuggle partner anyone could ask for.

I'm looking forward to a baby shower and time with my new extended family this weekend. Also, on Sunday, I will be working the "Pottery on the Hill" at the Hill Center! Come check it out!

Racing
The Marine Corps Marathon is this weekend, that's 16.2 miles more than the race I ran last weekend- the Army 10 Miler (ATM). I love running, but it's difficult to imagine running thaaaat long. Perhaps one day I will attempt a marathon. The Marine Corps is apparently a good choice for first time marathoners; the news reported that over 11,000 of the runners will be first timers this year. Plus, the DC race has always had significance for me because my aunt ran it several times while she lived in DC. Here is a photo of her as a first time marathoner.
The Army 10 Miler was a great experience. Matt and Rex were waiting patiently for me to run by at the 3 and 5 mile mark, but we missed each other. I was actually running faster than predicted. Here are a few photos he took of the mass of runners.
I'd really like to train for another triathlon, but it's hard to stay committed without a training group or buddy. If anyone is interested, let me know!
