Challenges

The past 24 hours have been tough... we put an offer on a house that we really fell in love with and things didn't really pan out. I know that this could be a blessing in disguise, and to be honest, when I got the news I was a little relieved. But I can't help feeling like someone spoiled our fun, or ruined the surprise. I feel a little empty and I can't explain where the void is coming from. I was looking forward to the move for several reasons- we absolutely love the neighborhood (Takoma DC), more space, and starting our married lives in a new/different place. I'm trying to push through this feeling...we decided to take a breather from real estate for right now and examine our priorities while remaining open to any changes or opportunities that come our way.

Weekend Edition

Finally got the tree up, and we are enjoying the lovely light and evergreen aroma!

What are you doing this weekend? Matt and I have tons to do and not enough time. Mainly we need to get our new car looked at since it failed inspection, finish Christmas shopping, AND ride my early Christmas present! Matt surprised me last night with an awesome new bicycle.

Weekend Edition

Hello! What are your plans for this weekend? I'm looking forward to seeing my family in Williamsburg, especially my sister, Hannah. :) We've got plans to attend an Oyster Roast to benefit my old Montessori school. (love Montessori!) There is also Grand Illumination in Colonial Williamsburg this weekend. It's so beautiful to walk around, drink cider, and admire all the eighteenth-century holiday decorations. Tonight Matt and I are planning on checking out Canal Park with some friends. It just opened and there is ice skating!

New Motorcycle

This past weekend Matt sold his beloved Harley Davidson Electra Glide (to his dad!!) and bought a lighter and sportier bmw motorcycle. The new bike is great, it's smaller and very similar to the bikes we road in the motorcycle safety course, Rider's Edge. It's giving me the itch to ride again (mainly in protected parking lots!)
Here are some old and new photos of the motorcycles.

Happy Turkey Day

Happy (day before) Thanksgiving Everyone! Life has been busy, and kept me from updating these past few days.

Thanksgiving has come very fast this year, and this is only my second Thanksgiving since I've been working full time. I always looked forward to breaks in college- no school!! But holiday breaks were especially nice since I knew that I was returning home to family. Now working, it's harder to keep the true meaning of this holiday in mind, so I thought I share a few things that I am thankful for on my blog!

First, I'm so thankful and blessed for my wonderful husband, Matt. He's a true partner in life and everything is just better when he's around. :) I'm thankful for my new family that marriage gave me. I'm glad we can spend the holidays mostly together this year and learn even more about each other.
Matt and I at Glacier Park

I'm so grateful for my family. Unfortunately, I won't be seeing them this year on Thanksgiving, but we will be thinking about each other and probably sending one another funny texts all day! I'm thankful for my friends who have become part of my family, and for new friends that Matt and I have met together since living in DC.

I'm thankful for the country that I live in. A place where there is so much diversity in people and nature; I feel blessed to have experienced this first hand on our honeymoon to Glacier National Park in August.

Along with the big critters, I'm thankful for the small ones...like our dog Rex. He's the best snuggle partner anyone could ask for.
